![]() ![]() And just like fans of the OT hated the PT while the kids watching PT loved it, I'm guessing that fans of the OT & PT hate the ST while its core target audience (kids) will grow up to love it. But by golly the execution was terrible.īut I'm guessing I think the execution was terrible because I'm not the target demographic. I would've done the same if I were in his shoes. So Johnson probably thought that it would be best to switch it up a bit. Episode 7 was the most sterile, design-by-committee, predictable movie in the entire world. On paper, "subverting expectations" was exactly what we needed after Episode 7. I know it's Star Wars and some suspension of disbelief is necessary, but this movie just can't be taken seriously And it's hard to sympathize with a stupid hero, and it's hard to view a stupid villain as a meaningful threat. Both the heroes and the villains in that movie acted like complete idiots. Overall, it was hard to suspend my belief. Why do the gigantic bombs need to "drop" towards the dreadnought? Why not strap those bad boys to a hypersonic missile and fire those at the dreadnought from hundreds of miles away? That stupid scene in the beginning with the bombers going 17 mph, and TFO not deploying any fighters until like eight minutes into the battle. Or why not have TFO sacrifice one of their many ships to just Holdo-maneuver the base and wipe them out forever? They could've turned that place into a continent-sized pool of lava within five minutes. If the rebels (sorry, the resistance) are against the wall inside an unshielded planetary base, why wouldn't TFO just nuke the hell out of that base and wipe the resistance out once and for all? The only reason this didn't happen at Hoth was because they had a shield, but the Crait base didn't have a shield. ![]() If you can ram a large space ship into a larger space ship and destroy it, why didn't you just do that with the death star? And if that move was a one-in-a-million chance, why wouldn't Holdo use their flagship to lead TFO away from the survivors? That plan has a much higher chance of working You were about to win by kamikaziing into the gigantic energy battering ram. The cheesy line where she says "that's how we're gonna win, not by fighting what we hate, but saving what we love". That ridiculous scene where Rose stops Finn's sacrifice to stop TFO's assault on the Hoth knockoff base. Why are we supposed to care about the sacrifice of a character we just met? Why not simplify this process and have Ackbar be the one who rams the ship into the MSD and remove Holdo as a character entirely? They kill off admiral ackbar, replace him with admiral holdo, then kill off admiral holdo ten minutes later. ![]() ||| Join our Discord! ||| Question?
